What are you reading?
What have you been reading at home?
I've been reading Sam Silver Undercover Pirate. Initially I was intrigued by this book because of the front cover; it looked adventurous and swashbuckling (which as a big pirate fan was a major plus!) However, the more I read of the book the more I realised that the cover was just the beginning...
The real excitement began on the first few pages when the main character Sam discovers he has a pirate captain as his ancient ancestor and then discovers a message in a bottle and a magic gold doubloon. He is whisked back in time to join a pirate crew aboard the pirate ship Sea Wolf for a rip-roaring adventure on the high seas. It had me gripped from the first few pages and I literally couldn't put it down. I would highly recommend that you read this book and let me know if you see any good pirate stories around the school that you think I may enjoy reading next.

Holiday reading
Over the Easter holidays I went to Venice in Italy and used it as a good opportunity to catch up on reading my book.
The book I read was, 'The Wartime Princess'
I really enjoyed this story because I really like History. This book really helped me to understand what life was like during WW2 and how people lived.
Brockwell Park
We spotted beech, oak, birch, willow and lots of other trees in the park and identified them using their leaves and bark. We all chose our favourite tree and were photographed in front of it so we will remember it.
What was your favourite tree like?

Andy Goldsworthy Art
This blog post is written by two Year 1 children (Hope you enjoy it!).
I liked when I was making the mobiles because it looks like it was sticks from a blossom tree. But it was actually a blossom tree with sticks and string together. I think it looks like a tree because you see they hang from stuff. The sticks hangs from tree. You see the Andy Goldsworthy. His sculpture, I love it because it looks like a spider web. That's it.

Flowers
Lots of people love gardening as much as we do in Year 1. Here's a song from Sesame Street about their flower show.
What flower names can you remember from the song?
